I recently completed viewing this series and found it not worth the money I paid. I guess it depends where you are in terms of skill, or currency, or experience. I am a CFI and I try to to stay current on all knowledge and skill areas. I do not have much actual instrument time, but I have had the instrument ticket for about 5 years.
I thought the material was mostly stating the obvious, and not giving enough detail of anything…kinda skimming over material. The weather stuff early on was the most useful. The later lessons on staying IFR current were really worthless to me. It’s like hangar talk. I don’t want hangar talk for this kind of money. I want detailed factual information and references.
The accident analysis lessons give a lot less information than is available on the NTSB website. Adding some meaningless graphics does not justify the cost.
The title “IFR Proficiency Review’ gives the impression that this will contain detailed analytic material for current IFR pilots wanting a deeper understanding of the IFR environment. “General Introduction to IFR’ would be a more appropriate title in my mind.
I don’t like sounding negative because I think ANY aviation training material has value. I just think they could have done a much better job providing more detailed information.

I recently ordered your cd kit. The car audio cds were interesting but not very detailed. I am just starting my ifr training and would like to have more info available in the audio portion. They were great to listen to on my commute but left me with many spots looking for more info.

IFR Pilot Workshop is a comprehensive overview of the real world of IFR flying. I
intend to incorporate much of the material into the syllibus I currently teach. You
would have to do a lot of IFR flying to gather as much material as is presented
in these workshops. Great job by Pilot Workshop and the presentors.

I’m a relatively recently certificated private pilot (May 2009, VFR with 180 hrs). I decided to begin my IFR training this fall (2010) and probably should have purchased a standard IFR course program from Sporty’s , Gleim, etc. first. I’ve been through approximately 1/3 of the the Pilotworkshop IFR Proficiency Series. I can see that it is not meant to serve as a “pass the exam” course, which is probably more in line with what I need at the moment. But I can also see that the IFR Proficiency Series provides in-depth supplemental information which will be a tremendous resource as I continue to move through my process.

I have been through about half the videos and all the audio presentations. (Because I can listen to the CDs in the car, I’m already re-listening and picking up a lot more from them.) The information is clearly stated and well organized. I received my rating in early June and within 6 weeks already have put much of the teachings on weather and ATC capabilities and procedures to good use on 4 IFR trips. I highly recommend the materials to those who make safety a high priority.

IFR Proficiency workshop was well worth the money for a me as a relatively new IFR Ground Instructor. I will be sure to incorporate much of the valauble information covered in the workshop info in my training. It is always good to hear some new prospectives on what we have learned. Reinforcement and continued education is the key to our safety!
    Thanks for a great product.

I’m about a third of the way through the IFR Pilot Workshop and have certainly enjoyed the easy style and feel like I’m being given the irreplaceable advice of instructors who have been there and done that. My only concern is whether some will complete the information in the course and skip the hard part, reviewing and studying the regs, especially since they change from time to time, but which is not emphasized in this course (and wasn’t meant to be). While some rule review is implied in the narrative, we live or die (according to the FAA), by the regulations and some emphasis here would be a good idea. I would suggest the addition of a couple of sections which deal with this material in the same comfortable manner which makes this course so profitable and so different from any other presentation out there. This course is good work.

I am just getting into flying IFR for our Co and I need to know exactly what this type of flying is all about. I have had very little experience flying with other IFR rated pilots, but when I did, I did learn alot about what makes it happen. The material that I purchased takes it in more detail from the planning , with weather to the checklists to observations, and realizations that tomorrow is another day, to the actual flying and what to do when especially when things go horribly wrong, to hold your cool, work your plan and have alternatives in place. this is what is being put accross through the course. I certainly would like to say a job very well done, by all that have contributed to the development of the couse. I know one thing that is for sure, and that is that this will make the training awhole lot easier, and I will b e able to understand the instructor in what he is puttting accross for me to understand and react the proper way.
    thank you —very much

I recently purchased the IRF Pilot Workshop to brushup on my IFR skills, since I
have not flown IRF in some time. I have found the approach the material is
delivered to be most informative and easy to understand. I think the IFR Pilot
Workshop is something all pilots, new and old, could gain knowledge from. Job
    well done.
